The later model 2 speed wiper motors have a self parking switch. This small internal switch controls the position of the wiper blades as you turn the main turn signal switch off.
WINDSCREEN WIPER MOTOR PARK SWITCH
This switch fits onto the wiper motor and lets the wipers park themselves at the bottom of the windscreen.
A faulty Wiper Park Switch is a very common problem and easy to fix. There is also a small safety issue of having the wiper away from line of vision when not in use and starting the wipers out of synch., could cause early motor failure.
A common MOT failure.
Fits 90/110/130 Defender Models and Series from 1967 on.
A simple and worthwhile DIY job.
